PCI (pulverised coal injection) coal is essentially high-quality thermal coal which can be injected into historically dominant blast furnaces to reduce more expensive coking coal consumption. It serves as a supplementary source of carbon and heat in blast furnaces, enhancing the efficiency of molten iron production.
